They do show some support...

If you have software support, I would give them a call. They can be VERY helpful in
getting certain printers to work.

Port numbers will bepend on which method you use to configure.

Here is a note concerning those printers:

Note: According to Lexmark.com the Lexmark Forms Printer 2580, 2580n, 2581, 2581n, 2590, 2590n, 2591 and 2591n printer models support both SNMP and Internet Print Protocol (IPP) printing, so the SNMP and IPP columns have been set to "Y" for these printers. However, this has not yet been tested with printing from an IBM System i using either a *LAN 3812 SNMP or IPP device description. Also, you may need to have a Lexmark Forms Printer 2580n, 2581n, 2590n or 2591n printer, in other words a printer with the internal or built-in Network Interface Card (NIC) installed, in order for either a *LAN 3812 SNMP or IPP device description to work from the IBM System i.

My mistake, it's actually a 2591, slightly newere than 2491.

I've got a brand new Lexmark 2491N forms printer, with the built-in
ethernet that I'm attempting to setup and print to, but I'm having
trouble getting it to work.

I've created a device config for it, with the IP address, and correct
port (4000, I think), and I can put it into a READY status, but when I
try to print something, the writer ends right away.

Has anybody else setup one of these, and got it working? What settings
did you use? I've looked thru the IBM reference info online, but
didn't find anything specific to address my issue.
