ok...IMO there's NO valid business reason...but unfortunately it's a major
pain when most of the apps you work with a vendor bought and they DON'T
have the files keyed(unique or otherwise). but again it goes back to my
previous statement ( but i'll expand it for clarity) there's nothing
wrong with constraints...BUT they should be there as a safety net...not as
main validation.

have a primary key constraint on the item master file?
