If you're going to protect the whole room, why make the i5 different? I
can see two reasons _for_ putting your i5 on the ups for the room.

1) More likely to be a better UPS. Probably a Leibert or something like
that, not a small APC dohinkey.
2) UPSs put out heat. Not a ton, but some. Why place that heat in the
room?

As for the signaling, at worst have a small app on one of the PC servers
signal the i5 that power is lost via the network.
