You have to wonder why someone is compiling at V4R5 if they are
supporting V5R2/3 and above. Why wouldn't they want to take advantage of
features in the languages at the higher levels? I have spoken to small
vendors over the years that admitted they didn't even have a machine at the
current release. You want to talk about scary.

Joe,
You mean like our vendor that claims to only support levels of the
operating system currently supported by IBM, yet, recently set us a 'fix'
that was compiled down to V4R5 with no observability?
My argument is, that if you are announcing only supporting current
versions of the OS, then freaking get there and get rid of the older
versions in your shop!
