Exactly!

And with no more sales of new systems, what is the future? A smaller and
smaller bunch of people working on AS/400s?

We need ONE name that encompasses all the marketing and all the technical
people. Then we can sell what we work on.

Sounds easy...? Nope - people won't stop calling the System i an AS/400! And
now IBM has changed focus, it would be nice for them to give us some
marketing tools to match the name they are using.

And I think that's the key to this discussion...marketing vs.
technical. The name is more important to the people that sell them
than to the people that work on them.

Hey Don (mr. 1988),

Do you ever want to SELL a new server? How does calling it an AS/400 help
sell new systems?

While you call it an AS/400, there is no ~reality~ of a viable future.
