Jon,

I think you're correct. IBM bristles when you use the "merged"
word...but...it kinda does pass the "duck test".... :)

And it's interesting that you would use the I & P nomenclature.
Historically it's been referred to as the AS/400, iSeries, S/38
pSeries...conferences... The conference has historically been named
directly to associate with the HARDWARE...not the O/S...

SO, what we're finally seeing is the actual transition from hardware
centricity in thinking(since it's being commoditized - why not) and moving
towards O/S centricity... Interesting that the real decision maker is the
APPLICATION... :)

Also, WAM has been O/S centric LUG for about 5 or so years now...I've not
changed the verbiage on the web page because I just got tired of IBM
changing names too frequently and our target market not knowing what we
were...but I do recall catching some grief from the irrationally exhuberant
pom-pom shakers back then as well... :)

Sorry you won't be in Chicago...not sure I will either - it's just an
incredibly expen$ive city...

This is an i5/OS conference. And it is the OS that matters.

Last I heard Trevor it was going to be a combined i and p
conference. And there is only going to be one event instead of the
usual two.
