Joe,

Interesting email timing...

So you are referring to the purchase of a used server? Or, are you referring
to a complaint that is now two years old and is no longer relevant?

Either way, we can't keep calling the platform by so many different names -
Google cannot keep up with us! And MS loves it when we call it by an
old/outdated name - it gives them ammunition in the war on our world. It is
industry pundits such as yourself who should be leading the community when
it comes to what we call it.

At least that way, you won't have to write an email to justify :-)

And in case anyone gets nutty, I used the term "iSeries" intentionally.
I agree with Trevor that one should use System i to talk about the new
box, I'm just not as evangelical about it. But the historical nature of
my post has more to do with the hardware prices of the iSeries; I
consider the System i to be the low-cost alternative and as hardware
commoditization continues there really won't be a separate box that's
specifically an i5/OS machine. In fact, one day you'll just get an
i5/OS blade, or even just a virtual i5/OS machine... <smile>
