When we do a switch the IP addresses switch also. Therefore they
shouldn't have to change any IP addresses anywhere. Now, occasionally I
get someone who did a netstat *ifc and picked the wrong interface to use
as an ip address to attach to the system (the other IP addresses are for
various Domino servers). I know, they should be using name. But they
claim the software they're using insists on IP address.
Anyway, back to you, ...
our switching does this (among other stuff...)
ENDTCPIFC ...
CHGTCPIFC ... AUTOSTART(*NO)
On the other machine
STRTCPIFC (that same address)
CHGTCPIFC ... AUTOSTART(*YES)

Several of our PC 5250 users have auto reconnect on. Their sessions will
die on the one system and when they auto reconnect they never notice that
the system name in the top right of the screen is different, but it shows
it different.

When you do a ping MySystem, it says the same address, but now it's
physically pinging a different box (or lpar).

Just get rid of that SNA stuff and it's much easier...

We have a second lan card on both machines that doesn't switch. That's
reserved for the switching software, and for the occasional hacker like me
to check on stuff (like testing keys, etc).
