That item speaks of SST, which is always very dangerous - that's where Leif and others did the work to make objects into *SYSTEM domain, as I recall - at least one place.

If you use option 4 and follow prompts, you can show a program object in disassembled mode - this applies, I believe, to any of them. It's possible to see the RISC instructions.

So it's pretty obvious that one needs to lock down SST and DST. I often recommend using real user names - not QSECOFR or QSRV or any of the number ones - when working in SST. This gives you some auditing capability, I believe, and prevents problems with disabling QSECOFR, which is ever so easy to do. But those users need to have only the things they really need, to do their work.

One can grant/revoke individual functions in the service tools - one of them is Dump/Display/Alter - I forget the exact order - and that should probably be done. At least from V5R3 this can all be done from SST - earlier releases you have to use DST to get to the service user maintenance stuff.

You know all this, I'm sure - just saying it for the benefit of others. ;-)

Vern

Pat Botz had a recent reply about how creation templates do not enhance
retrievability. How does that jive with:
http://archive.midrange.com/mi400/200104/msg00013.html

I've got a lot of respect for Pat. But anything with Leif's name on it
rather catches my attention also.

Granted, the topic was OPM RPG.
