You can do gigabit over copper with the 5706; we have a bunch of them.
They also support full duplex (strongly recommended) and jumbo frames
(useful in some but not all circumstances).

Whatever your network supports can be set up easily so your first stop
is to find out what your network can handle. When you make changes to
the settings, I'd recommend you do it from the console as if you're
using the connection when you attempt to change it your session will
drop.

Example: To change to gigabit, full duples, jumbo frames:
VRYCFG linename *LIN *OFF
CHGLINETH linename LINESPEED(1G) LINKSPEED(1G) DUPLEX(*FULL)
MAXFRAME(8996)
VRYCFG linename *LIN *ON
The MAXFRAME is jumbo frame support; otherwise leave it at 1496.
