Thanks for the explanation Scott that makes "sense" - but one might wish that the install checked _before_ it started! I'll suggest to Zend that they might want to add that kind of check. It is not as if they are using a completely generic install process.

Right now we are trying again with a local directory. Once (if) that completes I'll follow your advice and copy it all back where it should be. Don't know why it is a problem with this version of Zend Core - haven't had a problem before.
