It was both.
The upgrade processs was not normal but there was no upgrade path
from V4R5 to V5R4.
The machine in question could not even be loaded with V5R3 so I
had very limited options for a standard upgrade.
Yes the method of restoring authorities was used but again,
there were very limited options on what could be done.
Not every upgrade can follow the "yellow brick road".
