Shutting Down IBM Director will bring down your iSCSI servers!

That doesn't sound like a very good plan to me. What do you do if it
hangs, or crashes, or doesn't start after an IPL, or just has a runaway
CPU condition? When are you going to upgrade Director? If your
infrastructure depends on this will you EVER install an immediate PTF?

Just questions...

Finally got around to opening a PMR at IBM... Shutting Down IBM Director
will bring down your iSCSI servers... Also unless you are changing your

configuration then the data in '/QIBM/USERDATA/Director/' should be
static.

So in this case the monthly Full save window will work nicely.

You should be able to do an ENDTCPSVR *DIRECTOR before the backup and a
STRTCPSVR *DIRECTOR after the backup. If that doesn't work try QSH
CMD('/QIBM/ProdData/Director/bin/twgstop') before and QSH
CMD('/QIBM/ProdData/Director/bin/twgstart') after.

I have a client running a couple of iSCSI attached servers. During the
nightly backup we are getting several locks on IFS files in
/QIBM/UserData/Director/data/ /QIBM/UserData/Director/data/configmgr/db/
/QIBM/UserData/Director/log/

Now I really normally don't care about backing up anything in a 'log'
folder, but what about these other folders? Are these files static and
getting them on a full system save good enough or ??

They are only using director to support the iSCSI. The actual storage
spaces are being saved using a current Windows based package handling
their other wintel servers.

Thanks
