I don't have one of those so can't say for sure, but is there any reason
why it should? From what I've seen Director has similar functions to
Management Central monitors. So I'm guessing that management functions
won't work but the blades should still be operational. If there is not
a "Non-critical" time to do this backup you would either need to omit
/QIBM/UserData/Director/* or back that directory up by itself to reduce
the downtime.

What would your BladeCenter do if the Director server just failed? Or
if some rogue job starved it for resources?

Scott,

Will this adversely affect the blade center?

You should be able to do an ENDTCPSVR *DIRECTOR before the backup and a
STRTCPSVR *DIRECTOR after the backup. If that doesn't work try QSH
CMD('/QIBM/ProdData/Director/bin/twgstop') before and QSH
CMD('/QIBM/ProdData/Director/bin/twgstart') after.

Subject: DR-1 Files Locked

I have a client running a couple of iSCSI attached servers. During the
nightly backup we are getting several locks on IFS files in
/QIBM/UserData/Director/data/ /QIBM/UserData/Director/data/configmgr/db/
/QIBM/UserData/Director/log/

Now I really normally don't care about backing up anything in a 'log'
folder, but what about these other folders? Are these files static and
getting them on a full system save good enough or ??

They are only using director to support the iSCSI. The actual storage
spaces are being saved using a current Windows based package handling
their other wintel servers.

Thanks
