Put a label over the port with the IP address or the MAC address and let
it DHCP off of your network. You can then look up the MAC address in
your DHCP server and find the IP address to plug into the HMC software.
I rather not have the HMC hardwired to the FSP. Second though, have the
HMC do a network discovery for the range of MAC address that IBM uses
for the FSP. I have some protocol converters that are found that way
when you plug them into the network. As long as IBM wants the HMC to FSP
to be private, the default IP works. It could be a default IP if it
does not receive a DHCP response. So many different ways to connect.
Hell upgrade to USB and be done with it. ;-)
