Well, one option is to contract IBM to move it. A CE will come in, pack
up the system however is necessary, IBM will handle the shipping by
using some carrier, and another CE will unpack & set up at the target
location.

Big advantage: If anything happens like damage while in transit, IBM
takes care of it. Other advantage: It's a hands-off, more or less
turnkey system move (with the exception of any system config at the new
location).

Big disadvantage: Cost, of course, but it may not be too bad. When we
got a quote on moving our 570 some time ago it was higher than I'd
prefer but not so bad that we dismissed it as an option.

What size system is it? Racked or standalone? Peripherals like HMC,
printer, console, tape library, etc.? That can make a big difference in
how hard it would be to move the system. Our 570 in the rack with disk
weighs over 1300 pounds and that doesn't include the HMC and tape
library.
