That folder (i.e. ../service/FixCentral) doesn't exist. Note that based on
the results of DSPPTF OUTPUT(*PRINT) I determined an IPL was in order (so
apparently something was installed). Would that folder be deleted after the
IPL?

Summary comments:
I am entirely puzzled. As I understand it the FixCentral dealings didn't
play a role in getting my i5 updated, so I have to believe it is the fact I
used iNav to update. If that is in fact what did the update, man was that
EASY! As I understand it all I need to do in the future is go through the
wizard and select to update everthing I have on my system and it takes care
of the rest. Then I just need to IPL and I am done. Is it really that
simple? Note that this is a dev box. I realize a prod box would need more
consideration.

I know others have stated their ways of "I do it this way because xyz bit me
in the butt once" or "I download once and apply many times", but being I am
updating a single machine, is the approach I took an OK way?

Aaron,

Director can download the .BIN files directly to your i5.
Try to do a

WRKLNK '/qibm/userdata/service/FixCentral'

to check if your files are there.
