We do it all the time. The user ID and password must match from the
iSeries job to the Windows network. What is your password level on your
iSeries? Are you using mixed case passwords?

On the windows side, create a share with full public access and put a
test file in side. Make sure that has full public access. Can you get
to it? If not, you need to check your Net Server setup. Are running an
active directory domain? Make sure your Net Server configuration has
the correct domain and WINS server defined. Make sure it is running as
well.

Subject: using QNTC to access windows DFS file system

I am trying to use QTNC to access files on our Windows servers. We have
a Userid and password that match on both, we have LAN Manager password
configured on the Windows servers. The iSeries and the Windows servers
are on the same subnet. I can see all the servers in QNTC and on a few
servers I can see directories but on no servers can I see files. Our
Windows admin says that it is most likely because the iSeries does not
talk Window DFS (Distributed File Services?). Has anyone used the IFS to
access Windows files via DFS?
