For minor adjustments to the system time you can, depending on the type of system you have and if you are at V5R3 or later, also adjust the system time without having to replace the system time. This can be done with the Navigator by selecting your system, Configuration and Service, Time Management, and Time Adjustment. This is also discussed at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/scope/i5os/topic/rzati/rzatiustimeadjustfunc.htm?tocNode=int_218322 Or, as pointed out, you can use a SNTP server to synchronize the system time to an external time source.

The problem with changing the QTIME system value is that time will then jump either forward or backward immediately. Time adjustments gradually slow down, or speed up, the time value so that there are no large jumps experienced. Large jumps can have an impact on system operations.

You can set it up to autoadjust with time changes. See QTIMZON and the
InfoCenter.
You can get it to automatically adjust it's time by syncing up with the
world's atomic clock via SNTP (see InfoCenter).

I think Barsa has a presentation called "It's about time".
