Gary,

This is in fact what they need to do because they are using
SNDDST to send some email out on behalf of another user.

The SNDDST is being replaced with a more 21st century
solution but until then they need GRTUSRPMN to work for the
short term.

Allen,

Here is the help text from a V5R3 system. Unless I'm
reading this
incorrectly it sounds like GRTUSRPMN won't get you where you
want to go.
To me this reads GRTUSRPMN is restricted to OfficeVision
stuff.

Specifies the name of the user profile that is permitted to
work on
behalf of the user specified on the For user profile prompt
(FORUSER
parameter). Access is restricted to OfficeVision/400
documents,
folders, and mail items that are not personal. The user
profile must
exist, and the user must be enrolled in the system
distribution
directory before you run this command.

Subject: GRTUSRPMN command not working

We have a customer on V5R3 that needs to use GRTUSRPMN
(Grant User Permission) command.

After they execute the command they see a message "User
permission given
for 1 users."

But when they execute the DSPUSRPMN command it displays
Permission
granted to = *NONE

The parameters for the GRTUSRPMN can be easily confused so
we have run the GRTUSRPMN

Interchanging the two user profiles and have run the
DSPUSRPMN for both User profiles.

We always get the successful message "User permission given
for 1 users."

But the DSPUSRPMN shows *NONE for both profiles.

Both Users are in the Distribution Directory.

We are running the GRTUSRPMN using a profile with *ALLOBJ
authority

We also tried GRTUSRPMN while signed on as QSECOFR to see if
it made a difference, it did not.

I have used the GRTUSRPMN command numerous times but have
not ever seen this before.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

Allen
