We're still using an SNA connection across two machines for our Mimix
communications. (To be switched to IP next year) Each side has a config
object that points to the MAC of the card on the 'other' side.

I, too, was going to suggest that Pete. However, why would one care what
the hard adapter address is? That's why I always assign one when I create
a line description. This way my saves and restores don't confuse network
equipment that might have linked the old hard mac address. Been doing
this since, well, when serial numbers were numeric and I embedded that
into my mac address. Then I started doing stuff like division number,
etc. Then it got really run converting TR mac addresses to Ethernet.

You can always create a new lind and specify *ADPT for the adapter
Address, and then when you display the new lind, you will see the address
after it varies on.

Subject: 2838 MAC Address

On at 2838 10/100 Ethernet adapter, does it come with a 'hard' MAC
address,
or does it use the address specified on the *LIND of the line configured
to
use it? I'm in the early stages of migrating two 520s (which had 2849s)
to
525s and after doing my restore I can see the MAC addresses on the
configured lines (which match the ones on the old box/lines), but can't
remember if there is a way to see a 'true' MAC for the 2838...
