Autoconfig has nothing to do with Disks.

You should go into SST and see if you see them there.

Are you sure that slot #6 is actually wired to the controller?
Are drives recognized only if AUTOCFG is on? And is it? (although

Let me be a little clearer about that: I replaced the five 8.5GB drives
with
6 17GB drives. However, throughout all of the steps I've been through to
create a RAID set and start parity protection on that set, the system has
never recognized all six drives; it has only recognized five. The ones
that
are recognized are the five that happen to inhabit the physical locations
of
the original five drives. The sixth drive, located in the rightmost slot
(which was empty before), hasn't appeared in any of the configuration
screens I've seen up to this point.
