Joe,

They will stay there at that SRC for over 45 minutes on a scratch
install, nothing to worry about. That is normal. Go get a cup of coffee, or
some lunch.

Pete

Subject: RE: Best Manual for Scratch Install

From: Pete Massiello

You should have ordered this when you got your i5. It's the Backup and
Recovery guide. Its not just the best, it's the ONLY Book. This book
should be in your data center and also kept offsite with your DR plan in
my opinion. This is what we recommend for our customers.

Thanks, Pete. If it came with the box, then I'm sure I have it around
somewhere. This is a five-year-old machine, and I'm attempting my very
first scratch install. I've never installed an iSeries before, and it's
been enlightening.

I've upgraded machines in the past, but there's no upgrade path here because
I had to replace the disk drives. Unfortunately, I don't think the disk
drives are wanting to come up (or maybe they're incompatible with my RAID
card), because I'm hung at C6004031, and the disks just keep occasionally
clacking as if they're being accessed but not returning the information the
270 wants to hear.

Joe
