Thank You for additional information on the IBM Tech Conf vs. COMMON. I
have 25+ years with "Large Midrange Development Shops" and have recently
moved into a "Smaller One Man Shop" so now I am doing all the System
Development as well as System Administration(which I am not as strong
in). Since the IBM Tech Conference is being held locally (for me that
is) this will be a strong selling point for me with my Boss.

Opinion? Q: How is the "IBM System i Fall Technical Conference"
Orlando
Nov. 5-9; for a 1st time i series conference attendee?

It depends on the experience level and needs of the individual. I speak
at
Tech Conf as well as COMMON and other conferences so I think I can offer
some perspective.

Tech conf has a good range of topics so if you are a "Jack of all
trades" it
offers a potpourri. Because you eat breakfast and lunch (and some
dinners)
with your fellow attendees it is easy to network - an advantage for the
less
outgoing attendees.

If you are mostly in development, and looking for a conference this
year,
you should also consider events aimed directly at that market such as
iSeries DevCon (November) and <vendorwarning> our own RPG & DB2 Summit
in
Minneapolis in just over a week </vendorwarning>
