You have a rack model, right?

If I remember correctly, the hardware platform of the older HMC models
is that of an xSeries 336. These should have a light path diagnostic
panel that you can slide out and look at the LED for error indication.
There should be a small lever on the front, next to the attention/power
lights, that you can push to the right or left, and then pull out the
light path diagnostic panel.
