I am trying to connect to a remote using SQL but I get the following error message:

call connect parm('pgpdd' 'xxxxxxx')

Application process not in a connected state.

Below is my statement in an embedded SQL:

c eval SqlStmtStr = 'Connect to S1008B4d user ? +
c using ?'

c/Exec SQL
c+ Prepare DynSqlStmt
c+ From :SqlStmtStr
c/End-Exec

c/Exec SQL
c+ Execute DynSqlStmt
c+ Using :userid, :password
c/End-Exec

I also tried this embedded SQL statement:

Connect to S1008B4D user :userid using :password

Both of these statements work perfectly well in interactive SQL.

I would appreciate any help you can provide.
