Since I was the originator of the first note, and I do agree that sometimes
we have too much email on this list (more on that in a second).

My note was just a quick and simple "Last day to vote" Sorry Scott didn't
mean to give u one more :)

Then there was a rash of questions that developed out of COMMON Rates for
2007, that mutated into Hotel Prices, that double mutated into
Non-Conference housing fees. That then derailed into why are we going to
Nashville (which I think is a fantastic place for a conference). It's less
walking then when we are at a Hotel and Conference center.

On the quantity of emails, perhaps we should try to refrain from the "me
too" or sending a thank you to the list, when it should just go back to the
person who helped you.

With all that said, I do get a get deal of information from this list, and
even some of the topics that I have no interest in, have been informative
and I have learnt something, i.e. the Cycle last week. I learned when having
serious debates with others, do not talk about Politics, Religion, Sex, and
the Cycle. And Perhaps not in that order ;)

Thanks for letting me post my message on the election last night, but sorry
for all the mutated postings that were generated.

Pete

I have been on both sides of the fence, and with this thread I am with
Scott.

I have played the lazy email subscriber role where I didn't want to
subscribe to something (like midrange non-tech) simply because it would take
30 extra minutes of my week and I rationalize off topic postings by saying
to myself "most of the same people will be on both the lists".

The reality of the situation though is that there are many people here who
could care less about COMMON's pricing and would rather go to the horses
mouth vs. theorizing and debating matters. In the end this wastes our time
because I DO try to read most messages that come through all the lists I
follow so I can provide input and "help a brother out".

Anyways, why doesn't everybody just email COMMON their questions and then
piss'n'moan to them about their pricing so the complaining can actually do
some good.

Hi Paul,

Be nice. A lot of folks aren't subscribers to David's other lists.

With all due respect, it's NOT because they weren't invited to join the
other lists (such as MIDRANGE-NONTECH).

It's because they don't want to read volumes of messages about non-technical
things that people don't want to subscribe to the other lists. You're doing
these people a disservice by posting unrelated stuff to the mailing list --
you're not respecting their wishes.
