wow a question not about the cycle <g>

Dave you just need to use the SENDPA ftp subcommand

<help>
Help SENDPASV subcommand - Help

SENDPASV subcommand (Specify whether PASV subcommand is sent)

Use this subcommand to specify whether or not a PASV subcommand is
sent by the FTP client to the FTP server for data transfer or when
issuing the DIR and LS subcommands. The default is ON, which sends
the PASV subcommand.

Enter the SENDPAsv subcommand as follows:

SENDPAsv [0 | 1]

opposite value.

0 Do not send a PASV subcommand.

1 Send a PASV subcommand. This is the default setting.

Note:

Use of the PASV subcommand to establish a data transfer
connection is recommended when establishing a connection through
a firewall. In some cases, data transfer through a firewall is
not possible without the PASV subcommand.

Some FTP servers do not support the PASV subcommand. If SENDPAsv
is set to ON and the FTP client attempts a data transfer with a
server that does not support PASV, the FTP client will display a
message indicating that the server does not support PASV. The
FTP client will then attempt to establish the data transfer

connection without sending the PASV subcommand.

When SENDPAsv is set to OFF or is disabled, then the PORT
subcommand will be sent to the server when SENDPORT is ON.

How can I perform an "active" FTP from the iSeries? It is defaulting to
passive.
