Speaking of which (and more 'On topic' than the rest of the thread), yesterday the state of Tennessee issued an announcement that gun purchases in the state could now be made again. The hold up (no pun intended) was that the "server" (unnamed) that the TBI used to run background checks had been down for a few days. They now had (have?) a temporary server in place and checks should not take more than 30 minutes.

And I'm thinking:

* obviously ain't an i5, and
* hell, I do massive validations against my i5 databases and windows
server data in less than a second..

Actually, since I interviewed with the TBI a few years ago, I know that they use windows servers. (Didn't get the job, btw, because (a) I couldn't pass the background checks (!), and (b) they didn't like my snickering at their legacy system.)

All this talk of shooting and smashing is fun & fine, but what report
will you give your auditor as evidence that the drive(s) in question
were destroyed?

I've been waiting for http://www.deadondemand.com/ to add SCSI support
to the digital shredder.
