Directly accessing an i5 from a TREO650 SmartPhone

Is there a way to directly connect to an i5 server via the Dial Modem
attached to the i5 server, and then initiate WebSphere Applications
served up by the i5 server?

In other words, I want to bypass the internet VPN server and dial
directly into our i5 servers when I need to access them for System
Administration purposes.

I know IBM SupportLine can connect via PPP through the modem, I just
want to know how I could do this from my TREO650 SmartPhone....

I'm tired of trying to work through the issues involved in doing this
over the internet using a CISCO VPN client. I can't get our Corporate
Network Team to help me figure this out!!! So I want a solution that
bypasses the internet and goes directly to the i5...
