Possible.

Spooling is setup as SHRPOOL *SPOOL ACTLVL(*CALC) PAGING(*CALC) and
QPFRADJ = 2.

When they were trying to restart WRKSYSSTS showed:

System Pool Reserved Max -----DB----- ---Non-DB---

Pool Size (M) Size (M) Active Fault Pages Fault Pages

1 140.85 73.29 +++++ .0 .0 2.0 2.2

2 450.47 3.06 68 .0 .0 2.6 12.8

3 14.43 .00 5 .0 2.5 .0 .0

where pool 3 = *SPOOL and CPU was 95%+. Doesn't look like a lot of
thrashing there. Even the *INTERACT, *BATCH and Domino pools didn't show
much paging.

Could it be you do not have enough memory in the Spooling subsystem to do

Subject: Restarting an AFPDS SPLF killing system.

Hello,

Today I had a user need to restart a 1000 page AFPDS spool file at page
700 and the writer went to 80%+ without ever printing anything.

The device is an HP4100 with internal IP card. Using a *DEVD with
TRANSFORM(*YES) WSCST(HP4000MOD) SYSDRVPGM(*IBMSNMPDRV). System is at V5R4.

I tried a 10000 page SCS spool file and it only took a minute or so to
restart.

I use the *DEVD because of the page range control and a customized WSCST
for the *COR font sizing.

How can I get AFPDS to start at a specific page without killing the
system and to actually print?

Thanks.
