UG! Bad memories surfacing.. IDDU can have multiple record formats over
a S36 type internally defined file. We had it. It gives you record
formats to compile against and use as externally defined files. Best to
create logical views with select / omit over the file. Works for
character fields but numeric are a pain. Good Luck!

This may be completely irrelavent, but I was wondering about IDDU... I
haven't used it much since I came to OS400, but as I recall, it allows
an external definition to be placed over a flat file. I don't remember
if it's possible to define multiple record formats, so this might not
work for this application anyway...
