Someone posted a question the other day about wanting to get only the
first record in a group in SQL. I never did see if a solution was
posted.

We ran into same problem and here is the solution that I came up with.

Select t1.POPLWH,
t1.POITM,
t1.ITRV,
(Select Min(t2.POSTD) As PlanDate
From PLNORD t2
Where t1.POPLWH = t2.POPLWH And
t1.POITM = t2.POITM And
t1.ITRV = t2.ITRV ) As PlanDate
From PLNORD t1
Where t1.PMCDE = 'M' And
t1.POPLWH = '1'
Group By t1.POPLWH,
t1.POITM,
t1.ITRV
