Mmmm, I would say V5R3 because the capability to run a SAVSYS in batch
(through the BCHTIMLMT parameter of the ENDSBS command) has been
provided by this release.

Before V5R4, a console monitor has to be used (which has be
manually started each IPL).

Without BRMS, you'll need to start the backup manually, but a save
21 can be completely automated (read Jerrys reply and IBMs Backup
& Recovery Guide).

It is my understanding that BRMS is not mandatory to use the BCHTIMLMT
parameter of ENDSBS (e.g. you may use a CL program), but I must admit
that we use it with BRMS :-)
