I have software vendor (called IBM) that we had software issues with
(Websphere Portal V6). I do not have all the details but we had
problems creating instances because, according to IBM WPS support, our
setting of QCRTAUT = *EXCLUDE is not expected or is inappropriate. They
are expecting a minimum of *USE I believe, perhaps even *CHANGE. I'm
waiting for the response.

The installation and instance creations are done with ID's that *ALLOBJ
so I am not buying it at all. We lost two days trying to create our
first V6 instance. I could kick myself because on Tuesday I thought
about checking the audit journal but got distracted.

I am sure *EXCLUDE is not a common setting but am I off base in thinking
that they should absolutely be controlling this programmatically?

I have a mix here. My older systems are not at *EXCLUDE, specifically
those that we do our traditional programming. The hassle of dealing
with the development staff is not worth it. However, new systems that
are running products like Domino, WAS, WPS, or our data warehouse are
set to *EXCLUDE and have been for a while. This is the first '3rd
party' software problem I have had on any of these systems.
