What do you mean by bridge?

We were using Z6000 printers with external ZebraNet PrintServer II servers
on them. Maybe I used the wrong term, but our bridge was a wireless access
device that was designed to connect two wired segments wirelessly. It was
basically a self contained wireless card on steroids.

I would think that portable devices probably print much less data than what
Jeff described or the way that we were using our printer. If the data can
make it to the device and print in a couple of packets, I could see it
working better.

This was born out in our tests as well. So long as I printed 1 or 2 labels,
the wireless solution seemed to work. It was only in heavy duty production
work (tens to hundreds of labels) that it seemed to be screwed up. And yes
that was with the entire label being downloaded at once and (in theory) only
the printer needing to keep the count. And since that didn't make sense to
us...we just decided to run some wire to that location.
