Yuck. It sounds like you haven't had a good weekend. I guess I'll wait to
put on this latest batch of patches.

On another QC issue, a client had their BP upgrade them to V5R4 a couple of
weeks ago. Even after entering their key codes, they were getting a message
about a license key. The BP was stumped, so they called IBM and got a PTF to
install. Unfortunately, the message kept appearing. The support line said
there was only a 50-50 chance that the PTF would work. They had the client
re-enter the key information, and the message went away. Bizarre.

I guess we're completely spoiled by the quality coming out of Rochester, and
are surprised to see hiccups like this.

I put on the latest cume (V5R4-7107), and all of the latest group ptfs
listed at:
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.nsf/GroupPTFs?OpenView&view=GroupPTFs
Then I scrolled down through every product listed at:
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.nsf/recommendedfixes
And ordered those ptf's.
Upon IPL many raid cards reported

possible failing items:

In STRSST's service action log:

27808150 DC11
27808150 DC15

Called in a CE with a load of cards. Turned out that somewhere in there
is a ptf, MF41265, that has special instructions in it's cover letter. Has
to be applied permanently. (Along with MF40763 and MF41175.)
When I order group ptfs and stuff I never check for cover letters. Now I
have to figure out if MF41265 came down with those, or, if it was one of
the other recommended ptfs.
