There are all kinds of different "sizes" associated with a physical file. Have you looked at any help text yet? I assume, when you say WRKF, you really mean DSPFD (option 8 from WRKF). There is no direct help text there, but that size includes all the overhead stuff - format definition, for example. I have a file with a 2-byte record length and one record - it shows 8192 for member size. This size likely comes in multiples of 4K - the page size on disk on this machine. Also, what is the record length? Are there variable length fields? Are there null-capable fields?

Navigator might have more information - try putting your cursor on the size property and press F1 - see what it says.
