After I finished installing V5R4 this weekend, I noticed, while running WRKACTJOB, that a process named QJVACMDSRV is running in QSYSWRK under user id QIBMHELP and type BCI for function JVM-org.eclips.

I searched the archives and found something about it being a new IBM Help server. Also, that it does not have a "Start with TCP/IP" option, but that the option could be set by manually adjusting its record in QUSRSYS/QATOCSTART. But two things:

First, what exactly is it help for? Everything I found at the Info Center and Googling refers to dumping, analyzing, or running Java programs. I did find one reference that said it would eventually go to a TIMW status; ours has been at JVAW since Saturday. We do not write Java programs here.

Second, we have v5r4 on two systems. The earlier v5r4 install does not show this job running and *IBMHELP is set to *Yes in QATOCSTART. What is more, in iNav (Network...Servers...TCP/IP) I cannot find anything that remotely looks like IBMHELP. The Info Center was not much help in clarifying this; all it says is that it is "The IBM Online Help and Eclipse Information Center server."

I wondered if anyone could tell me what QJVACMDSRV really is and whether or not I can just trash it (End *Immed). And if there really is a connection between it and the IBMHELP server. The latter connection only showed up in the single Midrange message.

Thanks.
