From: Don

Uh, frankly, the prediction that IBM would do to iSeries people something
similar to what HP did to the 3000 people was predicted a LONG LONG time
ago... The IBM trend towards unix and away i5/os...ditto...

Yeah, primarily by you, Don <grin>.

But then, as I'm sure will happen now, those with their heads (in the
sand)

You talkin' to me? You talkin' to ME?

will say this is all negativism, etc...and not ever going to happen...and
so
what if it does...etc...yadda yadda yadda... Those are the folks that
deserve to be filtered... Can you say "irrational exuberance" ??

The fact that the midrange has been around since the 70s despite its demise
being predicted by people almost since its inception means that the platform
has some staying power.

That being said, all things come to an end. Eventually we'll have to move
off of this platform, whether it's to a descendant or to a successor. But
either way, I'm pretty sure it won't be in the next few years. I'll deal
with the future when it comes.

Reality, what a concept...

Don, if the descendants of the iSeries lasted until the heat death of the
universe, you'd STILL say, "See, I told you the end was near!"

<chuckle>
