Bruce:

We are moving from a Model 720 (no LPAR setup) to a 4-LPAR i520. It's not
actually an upgrade. At the moment, bringing the entire i520 rack down
would not be a problem; nothing is running live on it. I am looking to the
future.

Are you moving the P0 to the new box? If P0 was just used as the
controlling partition, you don't need to apply the PTFs before the move
so no IPL.
If the P0 partition was used in another capacity, you will need to apply
the PTFs and bring down all the secondary partitions first.

Uh, oh:

We are consolidating our production RPG etc., Domino servers, phone
system
(moving to VoIP), and many WinTel servers (moving to blades) onto one
i520
rackmounted. The "primary down, all down" scenario is not at all
encouraging. Do I understand this correctly? Real world, what is the
risk?
