That sounds about right for a 3581. We replace ours about every 90 days. It
gets replaced so often, I think the origional warranty is still in effect.

I have been with my current company since January of this year, Since that
time we are preparing to replace the 3581 autoloader for the 3rd time.
The first time we replaced it was because it was skipping tapes on a regular
basis.
The second time we recieved an unspecified error, the IBM manual says to
swap it out.
We are now getting a "Rear Tape" message even after a power cycle.

My co-workers tell me that there has been a history of swapping out this
device 3-5 times a year.

Have others experienced similar issues with this unit? Or, is this
history unique to us? what have others done for this type of issue?

Thank you,
- Jim
