I have found the auto create system values to be pretty much a joke.
If you run a program that does
DLTDEVD ...
CRTDEVDSP...
Does that count as an autocreate? No. Well, that is what the i5 does.
Test it. Rename the command CRTDEVDSP. Power off your system console.
Replace it with a completely different model that should configure as a
different device. Set the address right and fire it up. Been through
that test. Got the scars from when the boss couldn't use the system
console. (Fixed it using RUNRMTCMD.)

If you want to know what happened to an object you'll have to use system
auditing. Search for QAUDJRN.

If it was deleted and recreated, and you do a DSPOBJD you can check the
user profile. However the one on my iSeries Access 5250 session is QTCP
so that's not a whole lot of help.
