The default is also 1GB of memory, which in my opinion isn't even enough
to run V5R4 in it's default configuration.

The 70GB disks make a lot more sense, because with 2x36GB (as it was
usus with the Express models of the 520) you didn't even have enough
room for an i5/OS and CUMPTF image catalogs.

The prices for the disks and memory is also rather insane, compared to
technologically similar System x drives/memory.

And if IBM had switched to 2.5" SAS drives, it would also be possible to
have up to 16 arms in the 4U CEC.

Does the 515 still need the additional disk plane to use 8 disks instead
of 4?

Subject: 515 Configuration Funny

So, I am configuring a new 515 Express. I select the defaults, and
configure. It adds the mirroring feature and 2 x 70GB drives.

I review the messages, and I am told:
"You have chosen a disk configuration that may impact system
performance."

Ha! that is the DEFAULT configuration that IBM provided!!!

I read further:
"Please review the number of disk arms in this configuration to ensure
it
will meet the customer's requirements and provide acceptable
performance."

I guess this is another case of one arm forgetting to tell the other...
