Which is exactly why I said we try not to make such changes to IBM
files. The reorg process has run without any problems for over a year.

You just can't change a file to REUSEDLT(*YES), because this presumes
that
you know how every program that uses that file works.

A "normal" file, which specifies REUSEDLT(*NO) by default assumes that
record "n+1" was written in chronological order after record "n". With
REUSEDLT(*YES), you cannot assume this.

Where does this get you into trouble? When you have a file where the
logic
of the program presumes that "n+1" was written after "n".

Consequently, I would not make this change. You could suggest the
change
to IBM, but make it their responsibility, not yours.

Agreed. We run a monthly job to reorganize the QUSRBRM library as its
files collect many deleted records. While we could make those files
REUSEDLT(*YES), as a rule we try not to change IBM-supplied files in
situ.

<snip>

I think I explored that, because the product load libraries most likely
have quite a large amount of user data in them now.
