I don't listen to audio on my computer at work, only through my iPod and if
I have to work at getting it, I won't listen.

This is why I don't listen to the SystemiNetwork's podcast. Too much work
to obtain. I tried the very first one when it came out and I had to fill
out a vendor form to gain access (if I remember correctly). Not sure if the
approach has changed. The actual audio content was great from what I
remember, but the delivery method needs some work (as you have noted).

I liken your idea to JavaPossee (http://javaposse.com/) who has an excellent
podcast on Java related things (i.e. news cast essentially). If you are
looking for people to provide content for topics maybe you could create some
sort of "tagging" or "linking" mechanism to do so. I have not used
tecnorati (http://technorati.com/) or delicious (http://del.icio.us) or
other such concepts but would think that there has to be a browser plugin
out there that would allow people to easily tag iSeries related articles to
a specific technorati or delicious sub page (one you create by obtaining a
profile) and then you could report on it from there.

The other question is how many iSeries folks actually own and use an MP3
player that they have software to automatically download podCasts that they
are subscribed to? [Aaron raises his hand for being an MP3 player owner]

Lets move this discussion to non-tech. This is my last post on Midrange-l

Again... how can I setup iTunes to automatically download it? I don't listen
to audio on my computer at work, only through my iPod and if I have to work
at getting it, I won't listen. I am subscribed to well over 100 podcasts.
While adding a 5 minute podcast isn't a big deal to me, I won't work to get
shows I want to listen to, with a few rare exceptions. And besides what they
have aren't podcasts by definition, they are downloadable audio files. A
podcast by definition is an RSS feed with an enclosure.

As to my podcast. I am working on the logistics and gathering news then I
will let everyone know when it is available.

NEWS Daily is a daily e-mail newsletter. Fridays are "podcast day".
You can subscribe to the daily newsletter at the following link:

There's another newsletter called "System iNetwork Podcast Update"
that's also at the same link -- but I haven't tried it, and I'm not
sure if it's good or bad. Might be worth a try, though.

You'll need a System iNetwork membership -- but the free one
(Associate) should give you access to all Podcasts.

I didn't know about that. How do I subscribe? I don't see an RSS
feed for it.
