Websphere itself isn't a modernizing tool or server. Well, let me back up. Websphere is a IBM product "branding" that covers many of IBM's web servers and development tools. If you were specifically looking a tool that would help develop "modernized" applications, then Websphere Development Studio Client would be something you could look into. Specifically, the Websphere Web facing or HATS tools would help develop Web based application from your existing RPG applications. Beyond that, Websphere might be the application server you might deploy those modernized applications to.

Have them search for Web Facing or HATS (two different technologies) within the IBM web site. That should get them started. IBM has many, many links to that information.

Hi Midrangers,

Apologies in advance, if this is the wrong forum for this post!

Recently, I was speaking with a customer & they were interested in utilizing
Websphere with their AS/400 (to modernize it), but their impression was that
while there was loads of marketing info available, their BP did not seem to
be able to produce any current users for them to speak with (about their
experience/success, etc.).

I know very little about the topic (and I am not interested in selling it),
but I wondered if those of you that do have the knowledge could point me to
some resources that would be beneficial for her.

Thanks,
Dan
