Hi Gord -
A batch job submitted with that jobd saves the job log. Why not an interactive job?
If an interactive job ended by backing all of the way out of the program stack as batch jobs do, the logging values _would_ determine whether or not a job log is produced. The SIGNOFF command short-circuits that process.
