Just try starting it again - it will tell you if it's running.

Subject: How do I tell if STRASPBAL is still running?

How do I tell if STRASPBAL is still running? I am aware that STRASPBAL
and TRCASPBAL completion messages are sent to QHST. So the following
command is handy if you want to see only information pertaining to these

commands.
DSPLOG MSGID(CPI1474 CPI1475 CPI1476 CPI1477 CPI1478).

Message ID Severity Message Text
CPI1474 10 ASP balancing successfully started for ASP &1.
CPI1475 10 ASP balancing for ASP &1 ended.
CPI1476 10 ASP tracing successfully started for ASP &1.
CPI1477 10 ASP tracing for ASP &1 ended.
CPI1478 10 ASP tracing data successfully cleared for ASP &1.

From GDIHQ:
ASP balancing successfully started for ASP 1. 02/09/07 13:34:55

ASP balancing for ASP 1 ended. 02/09/07

ASP tracing successfully started for ASP 1. 02/14/07 11:46:51
ASP tracing for ASP 1 ended. 02/16/07

The first one was started by the addition of a new disk drive with the
option to add unit to asp and balance data.

But if I just want to see if the asp balancing is still running how do I

tell?
We plan on running the
STRASPBAL TYPE(*USAGE)
tonight, based off of our results from the TRCASPBAL.

ps: We have eighty three 4327 (70GB) disk arms in this lpar. Ranging
from 0 to 12% busy and 88.8 to 89.4% used.
