I can see the point to not allowing the announcements (Scott already went
into it, so I wont).

One thing I think we lack on the midrange.com site is an events type page
where user groups and conferences like the new systemideveloper.com can post
their events. A single place to go and get the most current event list
would rock. The list would include virtual events and 'travel-to'
conferences. A page like this would have to be editable by the community so
no one person was responsible for obtaining requests and putting them on
there. It would also be cool if an automated email was sent out each month
detailing new additions and what was on the docket in the coming month.

Note that with the new SystemiPortal.com there is an events page here:
http://systemiportal.com/events/list.php. If nothing else it might benefit
to have an events page on midrange.com that points back to the above URL so
we can all have one place to go?

Thoughts David?

Personally I would think that general stuff like "our user group is having a
meeting on..."
or
"our user group is looking for speakers..."
would not be so bad. But, it's David's list and I've gotten slapped for
such topics.
